Being Lead by the Spirit
The picture above is simply a confirmation of a dream I had that morning. I will speak more about the picture and how I was led to the cross in the sand. First, I would like to give you a little information about being led by the Spirit of God.
The Apostle Paul tells us in his letter to the Romans, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Romans 8:14
Paul says, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.” Romans 8: 16.
Solomon said, “The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly.” Proverb 20:27: The Amplified version says, “The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord….”.
So what is God saying? First, He says His children can expect to be led by the Spirit of God.
Secondly, He says He will enlighten, guide, and lead us through our spirit. That may sound very simple, but in reality, we can find ourselves grieving the Holy Spirit because of our sinful nature and the fall in the Garden of Eden.
Besides our nature, we are emotional creatures. Because we have been given the awesome privilege and responsibility of free moral agency, we can easily find ourselves too often leaning on our understanding, choosing our direction, and letting our physical senses guide us.
Too often, we find the natural man at the helm, steering our vessel into shallow water where dangerous rocks are present, and we cry out to the Lord for deliverance.
After much unnecessary distress and hurt, we realize we must have missed the mark. Well, I was just doing what I thought was the right thing to do. If we think more than we pray, we can get into trouble pretty quickly.
I think the two can work together nicely. We have to think, but if we also pray about the things that occupy our thoughts, I think there could be more harmony within ourselves.
The Bible does not say that man’s intellect is the candle of the Lord, but his spirit is.
God will enlighten us and guide us through our spirit. God is always speaking to our spirit, but we do not always hear His voice because of the voices of the world.
“There may be so many kinds of voices in the world, and none is without signification.” I Corinthians 14:10 All of these voices have a clear message on how to live your life, but there is only one still small voice saying, “This is the way, walk ye in it…….” Isaiah 30:21
Without the divine intervention of the Holy Spirit, the unregenerate person has no chance of hearing God’s still voice.
The world does not have the slightest clue that they have an eternal spirit, live in a body, and possess a soul. All of humanity is an eternal spirit.
Someone told me, “I received eternal life when I accepted Jesus Christ.” While that statement is true in that you have turned your life over to Jesus Christ and now have a new destiny other than the unregenerate person, it is not the full picture.
Everyone from Adam to the present is still alive and will remain alive for eternity. They may be in the grave, and their bodies may have turned to dust, but their spirits are still alive.
Those who have died from Adam to the present time have had only two final destinations. There is heaven, and there is hell. There is no purgatory or intermediate state where you can make amends.
“And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Hebrew 9:27
“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he that is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.” Revelation 22:11
